Our client is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their accounting team in Bakersfield. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting operations, complex reconciliations, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a collaborative, high-integrity environment. No prior agriculture experience is required.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
3–5 years of consecutive professional accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with internal controls, audits, and compliance
Industry experience in Agriculture or Oil & Gas strongly preferred
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Responsibilities
Perform month-end close activities, including recurring journal entries, fixed assets and depreciation, allocations, fuel entries, and cash transfers
Manage cash receipts and code daily bank deposits
Reconcile intercompany accounts receivable and advances
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, including:
Prepaid expenses (water, insurance, etc.)
Payroll taxes and garnishments
Tree/vine deposits
Prepare budget-to-actual variance analyses and explanations
Assist with year-end tax preparation
Support internal and external audits
Implement and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards
