Make an Impact Through Public Service Accounting

**Accounting Analyst** needed to join our Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful, community-focused projects while building a strong foundation in governmental accounting. We welcome candidates from **public, private, or nonprofit accounting backgrounds** who are detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow their careers in municipal finance.


What You’ll Do

You will support the City’s financial operations by assisting with accounting, reporting, and analysis that help ensure transparency, compliance, and fiscal responsibility.

Responsibilities may include:

* Supporting the posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger and related accounts
* Assisting with revenue, expenditure, and fund balance analysis, including budgetary and proprietary accounts
* Maintaining and updating fixed asset records in compliance with applicable accounting standards (including GASB)
* Helping prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, schedules, and audit workpapers
* Assisting with the City’s annual financial report and audit process, including researching and reconciling data
* Supporting grants accounting, tracking, and reporting requirements
* Reviewing accounting transactions for accuracy and compliance and resolving discrepancies
* Preparing billings, fee-related accounting, and supporting contracts, leases, and service agreements as assigned
* Using financial and accounting systems to enter, analyze, and validate data
* Responding to inquiries from City departments and the public in a professional, service-oriented manner
* Assisting with the evaluation and improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls, and systems
* Providing guidance or support to other accounting staff, including training as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

**Education & Experience**

* A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field
**AND**
* At least one year of professional accounting experience
*(Relevant internships, governmental accounting exposure, or equivalent experience may be considered.)*


Knowledge & Skills That Help You Succeed

* Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
* Familiarity with GAAP; exposure to governmental accounting or GASB standards is helpful but not required
* Ability to analyze financial data, reconcile accounts, and identify discrepancies
* Experience using accounting software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently or on a team
