Job Overview
As a Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting the organization’s fiscal operations. You will handle day-to-day accounting tasks, assist with audits, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and efficiency. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in accounting software, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate invoice and payment handling.
• Reconcile bank statements, general ledgers, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances and providing insights to management.
• Collaborate with external auditors during financial and tax audits, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
• Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Xero) and MS Excel to manage financial data and generate reports.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant tax regulations.
• Assist in preparing tax returns and other regulatory filings as needed.
• Provide support for ad-hoc financial projects, including process improvements and system implementations.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
• Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or progress toward CPA certification is a plus but not required.
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero) and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Other: Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
