Job Summary

A growing manufacturing organization in Ontario, CA is seeking a hands-on Sr Staff Accountant for a full-time, direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys owning the details, supporting month-end close, improving AR and AP processes, and helping develop junior accounting team members.

Key Responsibilities

- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, schedules, and account analysis.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable processes, including invoicing, cash applications, credits, deductions, collections, AR aging, and customer account issue resolution.
- Provide visibility and support for Accounts Payable activities, including invoice processing, vendor discrepancies, payment requirements, documentation, and controls.
- Review work prepared by junior accounting staff, provide coaching, assist with prioritization, and serve as a day-to-day escalation point for accounting questions.
- Investigate variances, discrepancies, unusual activity, and accounting issues while recommending timely corrective action.
- Support process improvements, SOP documentation, ERP or reporting initiatives, audit requests, and cross-functional accounting support.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $75,000 to $85,000 per year.
- Employment type: Direct hire, full-time.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage month-end close responsibilities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, account schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee and support AR, collections, AP, and transactional accounting workflows to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper controls.
- Review junior accounting staff work, provide coaching, monitor deadlines, and help resolve day-to-day accounting issues.
- Partner with accounting leadership on financial reporting, audits, process improvements, and cross-functional issue resolution.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful month-end close experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, AR, AP, and basic financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience preparing month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Experience reviewing work, training staff, or providing day-to-day accounting guidance.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting software or ERP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-moving accounting environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues that require further investigation.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to ask questions, escalate concerns, and follow issues through resolution.
- Must be willing to work full-time on-site in Ontario, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, or a multi-entity environment.
- Experience working across both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
- Collections experience, including AR aging management and customer account follow-up.
- Prior team lead, supervisory, staff development, or accounting mentorship experience.
- Exposure to inventory accounting, purchasing, supply chain accounting, or related operational accounting processes.
- Experience supporting external audits, year-end close, process improvements, or system implementations.
- Familiarity with automation, reporting tools, or AI-enabled productivity tools used in accounting workflows.
