Senior Portfolio Analyst – Commercial Banking
Position Summary
The Senior Portfolio Analyst supports the commercial banking portfolio by analyzing credit risk, monitoring portfolio performance, and providing financial insights that support relationship managers and credit teams. This role is responsible for underwriting support, ongoing portfolio management, covenant monitoring, risk rating assessments, and preparation of credit presentations for middle-market and commercial clients across multiple industries.
The ideal candidate combines strong financial analysis skills with sound credit judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple relationships in a fast-paced banking environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Analyze commercial borrower financial statements, cash flow trends, collateral positions, and repayment capacity.
• Prepare and review credit approval packages, annual reviews, renewals, and modification requests.
• Monitor portfolio performance, including covenant compliance, delinquency trends, borrowing base reporting, and risk rating changes.
• Conduct industry and market analysis to identify emerging risks and opportunities within the portfolio.
• Partner with Relationship Managers and Credit Officers to structure transactions and support client needs.
• Evaluate loan documentation, collateral reporting, and compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in stress testing, portfolio segmentation, concentration analysis, and risk reporting initiatives.
• Identify deteriorating credit conditions and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
• Support loan closing and onboarding activities by coordinating with legal, operations, and treasury management teams.
• Prepare portfolio reports and executive summaries for senior management and credit committees.
• Maintain accurate data within portfolio management and loan systems.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management.
• Strong understanding of commercial lending products, credit structures, and financial statement analysis.
• Experience working with middle-market or commercial clients across diverse industries.
• Knowledge of loan documentation, covenant analysis, and regulatory banking requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Formal credit training program completion preferred.
• Experience with portfolio management systems and commercial loan platforms.
• Knowledge of risk rating methodologies and regulatory guidance.
