Senior Civil Litigation Paralegal (Contract – 3+ Months, Fully Remote)
Start Date: First week of April
Duration: Approximately 3 months (with potential to extend)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time, fully remote
Hourly Rate: $52.00/hour
Location: MUST RESIDE IN CALIFORNIA
A mission-driven, non-profit impact litigation organization is seeking a Senior Civil Litigation Paralegal for a short-term contract assignment with potential for extension. This role supports complex civil litigation and is ideal for someone with strong federal and appellate filing experience who is passionate about social justice work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and execute court filings, including briefs, motions, petitions, subpoenas, bills of costs, discovery documents, and other pleadings
Perform cite-checking and Bluebooking for briefs and motions
Format and electronically file documents in Superior, District, Federal, and Appellate Courts
Research court rules and procedures to ensure accuracy and prevent filing rejections
Maintain electronic case files (pleadings, correspondence, discovery, etc.)
Manage discovery and document organization
Draft correspondence, declarations, notices, requests, and proposed orders
Conduct legal, factual, and policy research
Draft and manage public records requests and analyze responses
Assist with client interviews and attend community meetings as needed
Liaise with co-counsel, opposing counsel, court personnel, clients, and community groups
Maintain litigation calendars and attorney schedules
General word processing and administrative litigation support
QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive experience in complex civil litigation
Strong Bluebooking and cite-checking skills
Demonstrated experience with electronic court filing in District, Federal, and Appellate Courts
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Highly organized with strong document management experience
Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
Commitment to social justice and public interest work strongly preferred
