Job Summary

A stable and growing construction organization in Lake Elsinore, CA is seeking a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to support accounting operations, financial reporting, job costing, and project financial analysis. This is a direct hire opportunity for an experienced construction accounting professional who understands WIP reporting, job costing, progress billing, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the accounting function while partnering closely with project managers and leadership. The Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager will be a key resource for full-cycle accounting, project cost visibility, revenue recognition, and financial reporting in a deadline-driven construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee full-cycle accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare and manage WIP schedules, job cost reports, percentage-of-completion calculations, and revenue recognition.
- Review project budgets, contract values, costs, billings, profitability, and financial performance.
- Manage progress billings, contract billings, and related construction accounting processes.
- Analyze labor, material, subcontractor, and project costs while identifying variances and trends.
- Prepare financial reports, support cash flow analysis, assist with audits and tax preparation, and recommend process improvements.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $90,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday.
- Work Arrangement: 100% onsite in Lake Elsinore, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage construction accounting operations, including full-cycle accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare WIP schedules, job cost reporting, progress billings, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Partner with project managers to monitor project costs, budgets, profitability, and financial variances.
- Support forecasting, cash flow analysis, audits, tax preparation, and accounting process improvements.

- 5+ years of accounting experience, with construction accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience with WIP schedules, job costing, and construction billing.
- Knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction accounting environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with prevailing wage reporting or accounting.
- Experience using construction accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE/Timberline, Viewpoint, Procore, CMiC, Jonas, Deltek, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting commercial, public works, or government construction projects.
- Previous accounting leadership or supervisory experience.
