Shop Manager
Location: Southaven, MS
Hourly Range: $30–$36/hr with ample overtime available
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Shop Manager to lead our diesel mechanic shop. This role combines leadership, operations, and technical oversight. The ideal candidate has strong experience managing teams in a mechanic or heavy equipment environment and is ready to ensure smooth daily operations, maintain inventory, and support the team when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Daily Operations: Oversee day-to-day shop activities, ensuring work goals are met efficiently and safely.
• Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and mentor staff. Monitor performance, provide feedback, and take personnel actions as needed, including promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures.
• Inventory Management: Maintain parts and supply inventory for diesel and heavy equipment. Order stock, organize supplies, and ensure the shop is clean and visually organized.
• Customer & Team Support: Interact directly with customers and staff, stepping in to assist with mechanical work when necessary.
• Reporting & Meetings: Meet weekly with ownership to review operations and participate in monthly management meetings.
Qualifications:
• Experience: 3–5 years in a shop or mechanic environment, with management or team lead experience preferred. Experience with diesel equipment and trailers is highly valued.
• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Basic technical knowledge of heavy equipment and diesel machinery.
Work Environment:
• Primarily in a shop setting with hands-on work alongside mechanics.
• May require weekend and holiday hours depending on operational needs.
• Mix of administrative responsibilities, inventory management, and direct mechanical oversight.
