Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Service Technician for a direct hire opportunity in Portland, OR, supporting residential and commercial garage door service needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, solving hands-on problems, and earning based on performance.
No garage door experience is required. A structured paid training program is provided to help you build the technical, customer service, and consultative sales skills needed for long-term success. This role offers a supportive team environment, ongoing coaching, strong leadership, and a clear path to build a high-earning service career.
As a Service Technician, you will travel to scheduled customer appointments, diagnose garage door and opener issues, educate homeowners on repair and replacement options, and provide professional solutions that build trust and deliver a great customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to scheduled customer appointments in a company vehicle after training is completed.
- Diagnose garage door, garage opener, and related service issues.
- Educate homeowners on repair and replacement options using a consultative approach.
- Present “Good, Better, Best” solutions, prepare estimates, and close sales.
- Complete service documentation using company-provided technology.
- Deliver professional, customer-focused service while representing the company in the field.
Compensation and Benefits
- $23.00 per hour during the 8-week paid training program.
- Transition to a commission-based compensation plan after training.
- Most technicians earn $80,000 to $120,000 annually, with top performers exceeding that range.
- 8-week structured paid training program.
- Monday through Friday training schedule.
- One week of hands-on training in Orange County, CA, with travel expenses covered.
- Ride-alongs with experienced technicians.
- Ongoing coaching and development.
- Upon successful completion of training, technicians receive a company vehicle, gas card, company cell phone, and company tablet.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diagnose garage door and opener issues during scheduled service appointments.
- Provide consultative repair and replacement recommendations to homeowners.
- Prepare estimates, present service options, and close sales.
- Complete service documentation accurately using company technology.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Sales experience, including closing, upselling, or consultative selling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and comfort working independently.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and customer-first mindset.
- Stable work history and ability to manage a daily schedule effectively.
- Willingness to complete the full paid training program, including one week of travel for hands-on training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in residential service, field service, construction, installation, maintenance, or repair.
- Experience working with homeowners or residential customers.
- Prior commission-based sales or service sales experience.
- Comfort using mobile devices, tablets, or service software for documentation and estimates.
