Service Manager – Industrial Equipment RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking an experienced Service Manager - Industrial Equipment to lead a growing technical service team supporting industrial machinery for an established industrial saws equipment manufacturer in Charlotte, NC.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a maintenance, field-service, or industrial equipment professional who understands how machines work and knows how to keep technicians, customers, and service operations moving. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience leading field technicians, and a solid background with industrial machinery, machine tools, CNC equipment, material-handling equipment, or similar systems. Direct bandsaw experience is a plus.
Lead the Team
• Lead, coach, and develop field service technicians.
• Set expectations for safety, communication, attendance, documentation, productivity, and customer service.
• Address performance issues, resolve conflicts, and build an accountable team culture.
• Own daily service performance and resolve issues quickly.
Use Your Technical Expertise
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, PLC/control, and automation systems.
• Diagnose complex equipment issues and provide technical support to field technicians.
• Read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
Keep Service Operations Moving
• Coordinate technician schedules for installations, preventive maintenance, warranty work, troubleshooting, and emergency calls.
• Assign technicians based on urgency, skill set, location, and workload.
• Track key service metrics: response time, utilization, first-time fix rate, open cases, warranty costs, and customer satisfaction. • Ensure service reports, parts usage, expenses, and customer communications are accurate and timely.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of industrial equipment field-service experience, including 3+ years in service leadership/management.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in industrial maintenance, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with industrial machinery, machine tools, CNC, material-handling equipment, or similar systems; industrial bandsaw/saw equipment experience preferred.
• Proficient with ERP, CRM, field-service management systems.
