Job Summary

A growing public accounting team in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Tax Manager-MPA for a direct hire, onsite opportunity supporting complex tax compliance and advisory work. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional with a strong background in public accounting, pass-through entity taxation, tax-basis accounting, partnership capital accounts, and S Corporation AAA tracking.

The Senior Tax Manager-MPA will work closely with internal finance teams, external advisers, clients, and developing tax professionals to ensure accurate tax reporting, strong compliance processes, and well-documented tax records. Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage tax compliance engagements for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, and pass-through entities.
- Maintain tax-basis balance sheets, income statements, partnership capital accounts, tax capital, shareholder basis, partner basis, and S Corporation Accumulated Adjustments Account records.
- Prepare and review tax workpapers, book-to-tax adjustments, reconciliations, and complex federal and state tax returns.
- Research and analyze complex tax matters to support compliance, planning, tax-saving opportunities, and audit-ready documentation.
- Forecast interim and year-end tax liabilities while collaborating with internal finance teams, external advisers, and client stakeholders.
- Train, mentor, and support junior tax professionals while delivering responsive, high-quality client service.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $75,000 to $100,000 per year.
- Employment type: Direct hire, full-time.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage complex tax compliance engagements for pass-through entities, individuals, corporations, estates, and trusts.
- Maintain partnership capital accounts, S Corporation AAA tracking, tax-basis financial statements, and shareholder or partner basis schedules.
- Prepare and review complex tax returns, tax workpapers, book-to-tax adjustments, and supporting reconciliations.
- Lead tax research, client communication, staff development, and compliance documentation.

- MPA, Master of Professional Accounting, Master of Public Accounting, or related tax-focused graduate degree.
- CPA license required, or eligibility for immediate Texas licensure.
- 6 or more years of tax experience in a public accounting environment.
- Strong experience with tax-basis accounting, pass-through entity taxation, partnership capital account maintenance, and S Corporation AAA tracking.
- Advanced knowledge of federal and state tax compliance requirements.
- Experience preparing or reviewing complex tax returns and professional tax workpapers.
- Proficiency with tax software, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and client service skills.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate with team members, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Ability to work additional hours during peak tax seasons.

Preferred Qualifications

- Active CPA license in Texas.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
- Experience with multi-entity structures and complex pass-through tax matters.
- Advanced knowledge of individual, partnership, corporate, estate, trust, investment, and income taxation.
- Experience with capital account maintenance, asset depreciation, amortization, trial balance preparation, and trial balance analysis.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and multiple professional tax software platforms.
