Senior Tax Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join a growing public accounting firm in the Austin area. This role is ideal for a hands-on tax professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys managing complex tax engagements while mentoring team members.

Position Overview

The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing federal and state tax compliance, managing client relationships, reviewing complex returns, and providing strategic tax guidance. This position plays a key role in ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other entities

Provide tax planning, research, and advisory services

Oversee multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines

Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff

Review workpapers and ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations

Communicate effectively with clients regarding tax matters and planning strategies

Assist with process improvements and best practices within the tax department

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (Master’s preferred)

CPA required

7+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience

Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax regulations

Proven leadership and team management experience

Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills

Proficiency with tax and accounting software and advanced Excel skills
