Roles and responsibilities:
Individuals at this level MUST have their CPA license, a college degree with a major in accounting, or master’s degree with an appropriate accounting or tax specialization and have four to eight years of relevant public accounting practice experience preferably with non profit companies. Tax Senior II individuals are expected to:
1. Know and understand the reasons behind the firm’s policies and procedures.
2. Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants.
3. Have the skills necessary to develop quality client relationships and long-term loyalty.
4. Partner’s discretion as to their overall ability and qualities to work effectively at this level.
Assigned primarily to tax engagements:
a. Demonstrating a complete command of pertinent IRC sections and regulations and is becoming a leader in alerting the office of new pronouncements.
b. Complete command of tax research, including a knowledge of the reference sources available to the firm.
c. Determining staff needs for training and initiating in-house and other types of training sessions for the tax staff.
d. Being assigned increased levels of specific client groups (beginning to manage a “book of business”) and supervision of all tax return preparation and other types of tax engagements for such client base.
