Senior Residential Property Underwriter

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Residential Property Underwriter to join our growing team, focused exclusively on California risks. This is a high-impact role ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong underwriting judgment and experience evaluating residential property exposures.
The ideal candidate brings a background with major carriers and thrives in a fast-paced, submission-driven environment.
Work Environment Hybrid schedule preferred (2 days/week in office) Fully remote option available for the right candidate after initial 2-week in-office training Key Responsibilities Evaluate and underwrite new residential property submissions in California Analyze inspection reports, property data, and risk characteristics
Apply underwriting guidelines to assess eligibility, pricing, and risk grading Make sound underwriting decisions based on exposure, condition, and location factors Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient processing of submissions Maintain strong attention to detail and documentation standards Manage a steady pipeline of new business (no renewals or servicing required)
Qualifications 3–7+ years of residential property underwriting experience Prior experience with major carriers such as State Farm, Farmers Insurance, or Prudential strongly preferred Proven ability to review inspection reports and underwrite based on grading systems Strong analytical and decision-making skills Experience handling new business submissions in a production-focused environment Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Nice to Have (Not Required) Property & Casualty (P&C) License Experience underwriting California-specific risks
