Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Payroll Administrator for a contract/temporary opportunity in New York, NY. This role supports payroll, accounting, and accounts payable functions for a portfolio of commercial property operations, with a strong focus on accurate payroll processing, compliance, reporting, and employee support.

The Senior Payroll Administrator will play a key role in ensuring union and non-union employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting benefits deductions, statutory filings, invoice processing, arrears tracking, and related accounting tasks. This is a great opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment with operations, accounting, HR, and property management teams. Key Responsibilities

- Administer weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing for union and non-union employees, ensuring time entries, overtime, time off, and prepaid vacation are accurate and approved before payroll deadlines.
- Run, review, and reconcile payroll reports in ADP Workforce Now to support timely and accurate payroll submission.
- Coordinate with employees, managers, HR, operations, and payroll partners to resolve time reporting, absence, disability, and return-to-work matters.
- Manage payroll-related deductions, benefits, union dues, pension deductions, 401(k), workers’ compensation, FMLA, FLSA, STD, LTD, and related filings.
- Support accounts payable activities, including invoice coding and processing through the payable system, purchase order review, funding draw assistance, and data entry projects.
- Monitor arrears, prepare arrears reports for clients, support collection efforts, and participate in monthly client calls as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Process payroll for a mid-sized to large organization using ADP Workforce Now.
- Administer union and non-union payroll, deductions, benefits, filings, and time reporting processes.
- Support accounts payable processing, invoice coding, purchase order review, and arrears reporting.
- Partner with operations, accounting, HR, managers, employees, and external payroll resources to resolve payroll and reporting issues.

- 6 to 10 years of payroll administration, payroll operations, accounting support, or related finance experience.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now is required.
- Familiarity with Workday, Yardi, Excel, Word, and payable systems such as NEXUS.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, time reporting, overtime, paid time off, benefits deductions, union dues, pension deductions, and statutory payroll requirements.
- Experience supporting union payroll, preferably including Local 94 or Local 32BJ employees.
- Knowledge of workers’ compensation, FMLA, FLSA, STD, LTD, 401(k), pension deductions, and related payroll filings.
- Ability to interpret payroll policies and procedures and communicate them clearly to employees and managers.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, speed, follow-through, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear, professional emails.
- Ability to work with urgency, manage deadlines, troubleshoot issues, and support multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience supporting payroll and accounting functions within commercial real estate, property management, asset services, or a multi-property environment.
- Experience participating in client calls, preparing payroll or arrears reports, and supporting client-facing accounting operations.
- Working knowledge of invoice workflows, funding draws, purchase orders, and accounts payable processes.
