Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant for a contract opportunity supporting a growing biotechnology/pharmaceutical organization with global cost accounting operations. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with strong product costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing or life sciences experience.
The Senior Cost Accountant will support commercial expansion, new product launch readiness, month-end close activities, inventory valuation, SOX controls, and SAP-driven process improvements. This is a highly collaborative environment with strong cross-functional partnership across Supply Chain, FP&A, External Reporting, Technical Accounting, Internal Audit, and SAP business teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, Blackline tasks, balance sheet reconciliations, and inventory-related reporting.
- Support SAP product costing processes, including standard cost rollups, component cost updates, overhead rates, bill of materials review, routing maintenance, PIR reviews, and subcontracting processes.
- Maintain and analyze standard costs, inventory discrepancies, inventory reserves, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold activity.
- Prepare SOX control documentation and support internal control compliance, process implementation, and system-related control improvements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support new product launches, manufacturing transfers, commercial readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to SAP accelerated close activities, automation efforts, reporting enhancements, and ad hoc accounting operations projects.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $100 to $105 per hour.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience in a multinational, publicly traded manufacturing or life sciences organization with exposure to inventory and product costing.
- Senior-level accounting background, ideally with 10+ years of overall professional experience.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, and COGS.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA preferred for cost accounting, inventory, or product costing processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with ERP, business intelligence, reporting, and AI-enabled tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to business partner effectively and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, reprioritize deliverables, and support changing business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
- Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience supporting new product launches, manufacturing transfers, or commercial-stage inventory accounting.
- Familiarity with SOX internal controls, external reporting requirements, and scalable accounting process design.
