We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer with deep knowledge of casting and technical sourcing within a manufacturing environment. This role is pivotal to supporting both ongoing production and New Product Introduction programs. You will be responsible for sourcing critical components, managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring material availability aligns with quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead sourcing and procurement efforts for highly technical and engineered commodities, especially castings
Execute MRP-generated actions for assigned materials to maintain optimal supply levels
Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier quotes based on cost, lead time, and compliance
Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contractual terms in line with company goals
Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to manage supplier performance and resolve supply chain issues
Support NPI initiatives by securing reliable and compliant suppliers for new components
Analyze market trends to develop and implement effective commodity strategies
Monitor supplier performance, track KPIs (OTD, PPV, inventory turns), and drive continuous improvement
Maintain accurate purchase order data within the ERP system
Ensure adherence to internal purchasing policies and government regulations
Qualifications
Casting procurement experience is a must (e.g., investment casting, sand casting, or precision cast components)
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
Minimum 3+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of technical specifications, engineering drawings, and material requirements
ERP and MRP systems proficiency (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills
Able to interpret technical data and interface effectively with engineering teams
