We are seeking a methodical and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to lead our accounts payable operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with financial policies. The Senior AP Accountant will manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, act as a primary point of contact for complex vendor relations, and mentor junior staff. This role focuses on optimizing payment processes, reducing invoice processing time, and ensuring timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
• Full-Cycle Management: Manage and oversee the entire AP function, including high-volume invoice processing, three-way matching, and disbursements.
• Payment Execution: Prepare weekly payment batches, including ACH, Wire, and Check payments, while maximizing early-payment discounts.
• Vendor Relations: Act as the primary contact for vendor inquiries, reconciling statements, and resolving escalated payment disputes.
• Compliance & Audit: Conduct internal audits of transactions, ensuring adherence to GAAP, tax regulations (1099 reporting), and internal controls (SOX compliance).
• Month-End Support: Support month-end closing by preparing accounts payable accruals and aging reports.
• Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and implement automation solutions (e.g., OCR, ERP systems) to enhance accuracy and reduce invoice processing times.
• Mentorship: Train and guide junior accounts payable staff on best practices and company procedures.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of full-cycle accounts payable experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
