We are seeking a Senior Accounting Clerk for a contract/temporary opportunity in the San Juan Capistrano, CA area. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general accounting clerical duties, including maintaining logs, records, spreadsheets, and electronic files.
- Process invoices, verify accuracy, reconcile statements, and support routine accounting transactions.
- Create, organize, update, and retrieve records and confidential files using established filing procedures.
- Receive, record, balance, and document cash receipts or deposits when assigned.
- Prepare routine paperwork, forms, spreadsheets, correspondence, and reports.
- Assist with departmental projects, yearly assignments, vendor inquiries, and other administrative support needs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $60,000 to $67,000 per year.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Location: San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Process and verify invoices, statements, receipts, and routine accounting paperwork.
- Maintain accurate records, spreadsheets, logs, confidential files, and electronic documentation.
- Support cash handling, balancing, deposits, and account verification when needed.
- Assist with departmental operations, reports, research, correspondence, and special projects.
- 1-2 years of related accounting clerical, finance support, administrative, or office experience.
- Basic knowledge of accounting procedures, arithmetic, cash handling, banking procedures, and recordkeeping.
- Proficiency with office equipment and computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Ability to tabulate, record, balance, and verify transactions with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work within established procedures, and ask for guidance when needed.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with vendors, staff, and department contacts.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented work for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience maintaining confidential personnel, accounting, or administrative files.
- Experience reconciling invoices, benefits statements, cash receipts, or deposit records.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet tracking, data collection, research, and routine reporting.
- Prior experience in a structured office, accounting department, finance department, or public-service-oriented environment.
