Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a contract/temporary opportunity in Culver City, CA within the government and public sector. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong general ledger, reconciliation, accrual, fixed asset, and audit support experience.

The Senior Accountant will support critical accounting operations, including P-Card accounting, bank reconciliations, recurring journal entries, SEFA preparation, and month-end close activities. Candidates who enjoy working independently while collaborating with finance teams and supporting public-sector accounting requirements will be well suited for this assignment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, review, and post journal entries for P-Card activity, Central Store transactions, ABM activity, recurring entries, and accruals.
- Review supporting documentation, verify proper account coding, calculate applicable use tax, and resolve transaction discrepancies.
- Process fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, adjustments, reconciliations, and depreciation-related activities.
- Complete complex bank reconciliations involving high-volume transaction activity and research reconciling items.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including AP and AR accruals, account analysis, and variance research.
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor requests, and assist with SEFA preparation and supporting documentation.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Prepare and post complex journal entries across multiple accounting areas, including P-Card, accruals, fixed assets, Central Store, and ABM accounting.
- Perform account reconciliations, financial analysis, variance research, and month-end close support.
- Complete high-volume bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items accurately and timely.
- Prepare audit schedules, maintain supporting documentation, and assist with SEFA-related reporting.

- 6 to 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior accountant or similar general ledger-focused role.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close processes, accrual accounting, and account reconciliations.
- Experience with fixed assets, depreciation support, audit documentation, and financial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to review documentation for completeness, accuracy, account coding, and compliance with established policies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced accounting environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in government, public sector, or fund accounting environments.
- Experience preparing or supporting Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards reporting.
- Familiarity with procurement card accounting, use tax calculations, inventory-related accounting, and complex reconciliations.
- Experience supporting process improvement initiatives, special projects, and audit readiness activities.
