Overview
A well-established construction company is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations for multiple entities and projects. This role supports leadership with financial reporting, job cost analysis, and compliance, while leading and developing the accounting team.
This position is ideal for an accounting professional with construction industry experience who enjoys both technical accounting and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
Analyze, monitor, and support transaction movement in Odoo, ABIS, and Adjutant, ensuring accuracy and identifying GL or job cost discrepancies
Maintain and manage Fixed Asset schedules, including additions and disposals
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close for multiple construction-related entities
Manage schedules for outstanding loans and interest payments
Post and reconcile intercompany transactions and bank transfers
Perform full general ledger reconciliation and ensure accuracy of journal entries
Review and reconcile bank and credit card activity, including fees
Review miscellaneous accounting items including 1099 reporting, subcontractor reporting, and payroll-related reports
Run AP and AR aging reports weekly, ensuring timely vendor payments and customer collections
Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports
Perform gross margin and job cost analysis to identify discrepancies between ERP systems and accounting records
Review and approve customer credit applications
Support audits, compliance, and special projects as needed
Management & Leadership
Serve as backup support for AP and AR functions across entities
Attend management and operational meetings as needed
Cross-train accounting staff and maintain/update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Respond to inquiries from internal leadership, banks, subcontractors, and third-party vendors
Prepare weekly AR/AP cash forecast reports
Ensure adherence to financial regulations, internal controls, and construction accounting best practices
Prepare financial reports for external auditors, CPA firms, and tax compliance
Lead and supervise the accounting team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong internal controls
Act as Banking System Administrator
Payroll
Serve as Paychex Payroll Administrator
Review and analyze payroll variance reports, including labor cost impacts on projects
Support management with payroll-related analysis and reporting
