Job Overview
The Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team, responsible for financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls within a manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong background in financial and cost accounting, with direct experience supporting manufacturing operations, including standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in a Senior Accountant role within a manufacturing company.
This position also requires hands-on experience with percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition and a solid understanding of applicable accounting standards. The Senior Accountant will prepare and review financial statements, including the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. This role is based onsite at NCS in Irvine, CA.
Key Responsibilities
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Perform margin and profitability analysis across product lines and manufacturing operations to identify risks and opportunities
• Apply standard costing methodologies, including variance analysis and inventory valuation
• Monitor KPIs and investigate variances between actual results, budget, and prior periods
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting, including development of financial models and planning tools
• Prepare cash flow forecasts, financial projections, and business activity reports
• Ensure proper application of POC revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 or IFRS 15
• Analyze complex financial and operational data to provide actionable business insights
• Improve and standardize accounting processes, systems, and internal controls
• Support audits and ensure proper documentation of accounting policies and procedures
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to support manufacturing performance and decision-making
Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Senior Accountant within a manufacturing company (required)
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis
• Solid understanding of revenue recognition standards (ASC 606 or IFRS 15), including POC accounting
• Proven ability to prepare and review full financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
