Senior Accountant

Seeking a Senior Accountant who can hit the ground running and bring strong, hands-on experience to a fast-paced finance team. This senior-level role supports day-to-day finance operations and reports directly to the Controller. Strong preference will be given to candidates with nonprofit accounting experience and Sage Intacct expertise.

Responsibilities
• Lead monthly close, maintain the general ledger, and ensure timely, accurate reconciliations
• Prepare multi-segment monthly financial statements and custom reports
• Manage grant funding requests and reporting for multiple government and private grants
• Review and oversee ledger postings from subsystems and external processors
• Evaluate and apply cost allocation methodologies across programs
•Support audits and prepare documentation for CPA-prepared tax returns
• Participate in or lead special projects, including system implementations and process improvements
• Mentor and support accounting team members and foster a collaborative work environment

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit fund accounting (multi-program preferred)
• Strong experience with month-end close, general ledger, and financial reporting
• Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with MS Office
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple priorities
• Experience with government or VA grant accounting and reporting is a plus
