Position Overview

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in managing complex accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. This position requires strong expertise in grant reporting, capital asset management, auditing, internal controls, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring advanced analytical skills, a meticulous attention to detail, and a high degree of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards.

Manage all aspects of grant accounting, including budgeting, expense tracking, and preparation of reports for funding agencies.

Oversee capital asset accounting, including acquisition, depreciation, reconciliation, and disposals.

Support internal and external audit processes by preparing detailed schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.

Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting principles.

Provide financial guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.

Education and Licensing Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, with major coursework in accounting.

Qualifications and Skills

In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.

Strong understanding of grant compliance and reporting requirements.

Demonstrated experience supporting audit processes and designing effective internal controls.

Proficiency with accounting software systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
