We are seeking a driven and hands-on Sanitation Supervisor with strong CIP (Clean-In-Place) process management experience to lead all plant sanitation operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across production facilities.
The Sanitation Supervisor will work closely with Plant Management, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to coordinate sanitation schedules, oversee sanitation staff, and continuously improve sanitation and CIP programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily operations of the sanitation and janitorial teams, ensuring all food production equipment and facilities are cleaned and sanitized according to established schedules.
Ensure sanitation practices support food safety, quality standards, GMPs, SOPs, and SSOPs.
Operate and oversee CIP systems, including disassembly, cleaning, sanitation, reassembly, and verification.
Manage sanitation staffing levels, labor efficiency, scheduling, training, and performance.
Prepare, maintain, and audit Master Sanitation Schedules and all sanitation/CIP documentation.
Ensure sanitation and production reports are completed accurately and on time.
Monitor and document cleaning cycle times, chemical concentrations, flow rates, temperatures, and sanitation effectiveness.
Verify sanitation procedures meet required cleanliness standards through inspections and validation.
Partner closely with QA to address deviations, corrective actions, and root cause analysis related to sanitation non-conformances.
Support internal audits, self-audits, and regulatory inspections related to sanitation and food safety.
Oversee chemical handling, storage, inventory control, and ordering through the ERP system.
Monitor CIP filtration systems, change filters, and support wastewater compliance reporting.
Maintain proper waste management practices throughout the facility.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to identify and implement continuous sanitation improvements.
Demonstrate flexibility to work across shifts and weekends when required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Food & Beverage Manufacturing Sanitation experience required
Prior supervisory or managerial experience leading sanitation teams
Strong knowledge of CIP systems and sanitation validation
Working knowledge of HACCP principles (Certification preferred)
Familiarity with GFSI standards (SQF, BRC, or equivalent preferred)
Understanding of federal, state, and local food safety regulations
Experience with sanitation documentation, audits, and corrective actions
ERP experience for inventory and chemical management preferred
Language & Communication Skills
Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred
Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, procedures, and reports
Strong verbal communication skills for training and team leadership
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and management
