Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior HR Generalist for a contract/temporary opportunity in Ontario, CA, supporting a busy HR department within the construction industry. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys the tactical, detail-focused side of human resources, including HRIS data management, benefits reconciliation, onboarding, compliance documentation, and front office support.

The Senior HR Generalist will help keep essential HR operations running smoothly during an 8-week leave of absence, with the possibility of the assignment becoming permanent.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute accurate HRIS data entry for background checks, employee payroll profiles, E-Verify, and employee record updates.
- Perform monthly benefits reconciliation across company entities to support billing accuracy and timely issue resolution.
- Facilitate new hire orientations for a designated business unit, ensuring a professional and organized onboarding experience.
- Maintain physical and digital employee files while following record retention policies and confidentiality standards.
- Provide front desk coverage during breaks, greet visitors, respond to inquiries, and support general office operations.
- Assist with HR administrative tasks and shifting priorities as needed to support daily department workflow.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay range: $35.00 to $38.00 per hour.
- Contract/temporary assignment expected to last approximately 8 weeks to cover a leave of absence.
- Possibility to convert to a permanent role.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support HRIS data management, including background checks, payroll profiles, E-Verify, and employee record updates.
- Manage monthly benefits carrier invoice reconciliation across multiple entities.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
- Maintain compliant HR records, filing systems, and confidential employee documentation.

- 6 to 10 years of human resources experience, preferably in a generalist or senior HR support capacity.
- Experience with HRIS data entry and employee profile management.
- ADP Workforce Now experience is a plus.
- Proven experience performing monthly benefits reconciliation and working with carrier invoices.
- Familiarity with California employment documentation, including E-Verify and payroll-related employee records.
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong organizational skills with experience maintaining filing systems and record retention processes.
- Professional communication skills for conducting orientations, greeting guests, and supporting employee inquiries.
- High level of confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information.
- Adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing HR administrative work with front desk support.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience using ADP Workforce Now.
- HR experience in construction, residential, commercial, office, or related industries.
- Prior experience supporting HR operations during a leave coverage or temporary assignment.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on HR environment where accuracy, flexibility, and a “no task too small” mindset are important.
