Looking for candidates with strong internal audit skills, ideally with state government experience, and noted that internal audit experience is preferred over external audit experience Primary duties (supporting audit managers and the assistant audit director with complex and routine audits) and outlined the current team composition Job Purpose: Under limited supervision, performs professional auditing duties testing the accuracy and documentation of accounting records, statistical reports, and financial statements. Ascertains administrative compliance with laws, regulations, and Agency Policy and Procedures. Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of management control systems. Job Functions: 1) Performs Preliminary Audit work - Reviews previous internal audit workpapers, any external audits that may have been conducted, and interviews department management to prepare audit program, time budget, and any other items that may be required in preliminary phase. 2) Performs Audit Fieldwork - Uses the Audit Program to analyze internal controls; evaluates the utilization and control of property, equipment, personnel, and supplies, and assesses the effectiveness of Agency Policies and Procedures. Tests samples of accounting transactions such as receipts and disbursements for accuracy, completeness, original documentation and proper authorizations. Examines the accuracy of statistical reports and financial statements by recomputing figures. Documents all findings in work papers that accurately reflect the results of the testing. 3) Prepares Audit Report - Documents the findings from the above work in a factual presentation that will be submitted to Management according to department policy. Grammar and Spelling will be very important to ensure the findings are accurately presented. Recommendations need to be achievable for the area reviewed and fit within their budget. 4) Presents Findings to Various Groups - The auditor will need to be able to present the report to various groups in the agency and explain why they should implement the recommendations and what the benefits are. 5) Conducts Follow Up on Open Audit Recommendations. Provides the status of audit recommendations to Audit Director and Administrative Coordinator. 6) Other Duties as Assigned - Performs related duties as requested and reviews the work of others who assist you with assigned audits when applicable.
