We are currently seeking a Risk Manager for a long-term temporary opportunity with a valued client in Riviera Beach. This critical position plays a key role in reducing financial loss to the City by proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks. The Risk Manager will oversee risk-handling initiatives, support claims management, ensure compliance with insurance and legal standards, and collaborate closely with departments citywide—particularly Human Resources and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer the City’s risk management and insurance programs including records, policy renewals, audits, and claims.
Develop and implement accident prevention and loss control methods, safety programs, and awareness initiatives.
Analyze injury statistics and trends across departments to recommend safety improvements.
Collaborate with doctors, attorneys, insurance carriers, and city officials on workers' compensation cases and other legal claims.
Evaluate employee health issues (occupational and non-occupational), salary continuance requests, and interpret legislation related to risk.
Keep current with changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting municipal risk exposure.
Maintain and improve the City’s Risk and Safety Programs.
Assist with the development and updates of City policies, Employee Manual, and standard operating procedures.
Support the implementation and monitoring of the NeoGov HR software and related processes.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in Risk Management, preferably in a municipal or public-sector environment.
Strong understanding of workers’ compensation laws, insurance policies, and loss prevention strategies.
Ability to analyze complex data and communicate findings effectively.
Proven ability to interact professionally with internal teams, external partners, and legal professionals.
Familiarity with HR operations and systems such as NeoGov is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Human Resources and operates under administrative supervision. The role requires a mix of independent judgment, collaboration with City departments, and responsiveness to evolving policy and legal landscapes.
