Job Summary

We are seeking a Risk, Claims and Insurance Liaison for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Pasadena, CA within a healthcare services environment. This role supports a high-impact risk management function responsible for claims intake, investigation, communication, reporting, insurance coordination, and litigation support across multiple liability areas.

The Risk, Claims and Insurance Liaison will work closely with risk management leadership, clinical teams, safety officers, legal counsel, insurance carriers, medical staff, and finance partners to support timely claims resolution, reduce organizational exposure, and identify opportunities for safety and quality improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for a healthcare claims or risk management professional who enjoys investigative work, cross-functional collaboration, and contributing to a culture of accountability, patient safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and manage professional liability, general liability, employment liability, directors and officers, auto, property, and other insurance-related claims.
- Investigate potential claim events and actual claims by interviewing witnesses, safeguarding evidence, reviewing documentation, preparing summaries, and supporting liability assessments.
- Collaborate with risk management leadership, clinical risk teams, defense counsel, medical staff, finance, auditors, insurance carriers, and brokers to support claims resolution and risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate claims documentation, calendars, databases, loss information, expense entries, indemnity transactions, reporting, and carrier notifications.
- Coordinate insurance renewals, coverage documentation, physician liability insurance verification, claims history letters, and insurance application support.
- Represent organizational interests with defense counsel in settlement conferences, mediations, small claims court, trials, and other claims-related proceedings as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $40.00 to $60.00 per hour.
- Job type: Temp-to-Hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage healthcare claims intake, documentation, tracking, reporting, calendaring, and claims database updates.
- Investigate professional liability, general liability, employment liability, and related healthcare claims.
- Coordinate with defense counsel, insurance carriers, brokers, medical staff, risk management teams, finance, and leadership.
- Support insurance coverage administration, renewal applications, proof of insurance requests, and claims history documentation.

- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of healthcare experience required, with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred for this level.
- Experience handling professional liability, employment liability, and general liability claims required.
- Experience interacting with medical staff, legal counsel, risk managers, insurance carriers, and internal leadership required.
- Experience with insurance applications, insurance portfolio management, claims reserves, loss runs, and carrier reporting required.
- Knowledge of legal and medical terminology required.
- Strong understanding of confidential patient, employee, claims, and protected work product information.
- Advanced word processing skills and proficiency with Windows-based software and report writing required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple claims, projects, deadlines, stakeholders, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide professional guidance to administration, medical staff, patients, and employees.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, work with minimal supervision, problem-solve, and support continuous improvement.
- Professional demeanor with a collaborative, service-oriented approach and commitment to Just Culture practices.

Preferred Qualifications

- Current industry certification preferred.
- Current clinical license preferred.
- Clinical healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience managing directors and officers, auto, or property liability claims preferred.
- Experience with coverage analysis preferred.
- Knowledge of project management tools, database programs, spreadsheets, and graphical reporting software preferred.
