Job Summary

We are seeking a Renewal Underwriter for a direct hire opportunity in San Juan, PR within the insurance industry. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who enjoys working with claims data, utilization trends, pricing support, and fully insured group account renewals.

The Renewal Underwriter will support the renewal process by collecting, validating, and analyzing utilization, claims, benefits, financial, and demographic information. This position contributes directly to accurate rate recommendations, claims projections, and overall business profitability.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect, validate, and analyze claims, utilization, benefits, demographic, and financial data for fully insured group renewals.
- Prepare claims projections, pricing support analyses, and renewal evaluations using established methodologies and actuarial factors.
- Review plan utilization trends, claims experience, renewal history, and account performance to identify key cost drivers and variations.
- Evaluate the financial impact of plan design changes, including copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance.
- Extract, maintain, and organize data from internal systems to support underwriting and pricing analysis.
- Collaborate with Account Executives and internal departments by providing renewal-related analysis and responding to information requests.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $55,000 per year.
- Job Type: Direct Hire.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Statistics, Finance, Quantitative Methods, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis, health insurance underwriting, pricing, financial analysis, or fully insured group account renewals.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret claims, utilization, demographic, and financial data.
- Experience working with databases, reporting tools, and quantitative analysis.
- Ability to apply established methodologies and actuarial factors to pricing and claims projection support.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to follow established policies and procedures.
- Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
- Professional communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Account Executives and internal departments.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in the health insurance industry.
- Experience supporting group health, life insurance, or fully insured account renewals.
- Familiarity with insurance pricing, underwriting processes, claims cost projections, and plan utilization analysis.
- Experience using internal insurance systems, databases, and reporting tools to support renewal evaluations.
