Front Desk Receptionist (Temp-to-Hire | Government Role)

We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Front Desk Receptionist to join a local government organization on a temporary-to-hire basis. This full-time, Monday–Friday position is located in Valley Center, CA and offers excellent long-term benefits and growth potential once converted to a permanent role.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Housing, Facilities, & Land Use, the Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for members, staff, and visitors. This role plays a key part in creating a positive first impression while ensuring the smooth flow of daily front office operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist visitors, members, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner
Manage front desk operations and direct visitor flow throughout the building
Answer, screen, and route incoming calls; take accurate messages and follow up as needed
Perform clerical and administrative support tasks including filing, data entry, scanning, and document management
Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure accurate information is provided
Uphold confidentiality and represent the organization with professionalism and integrity
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a receptionist, front desk, or administrative role
Strong customer service and communication skills
History of reliability and long-term employment
Professional demeanor with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
