A growing food production company is seeking an R&D Food Scientist to join its research and development team in Madelia, MN. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a food science professional or culinary professional who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, product testing, and supporting innovation in a manufacturing environment.

The R&D Food Scientist will support laboratory analysis, reagent preparation, and product trials across multiple locations. This role offers the opportunity to build technical skills, contribute to product development initiatives, and work with a collaborative team focused on quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform routine laboratory analysis to support research, development, and production needs across multiple locations.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and laboratory materials according to established procedures.
- Support product trials, testing, and documentation for new and existing food products.
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting to support R&D and operational decision-making.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and follow food safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, quality, and production personnel.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Perform routine laboratory testing and analysis for food production and R&D support.
- Prepare reagents and solutions used in laboratory and product testing processes.
- Support product trials, testing activities, and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with R&D and operational teams to support product quality and innovation.

- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Manufacturing, or a related degree program, or currently pursuing a relevant degree.
- At least 1 year of relevant on-the-job experience in food science, food manufacturing, laboratory, quality, or R&D support.
- Understanding of basic laboratory practices, sample preparation, and analytical testing procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team-oriented production environment.
- Interest in food product development, food safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting product trials or food manufacturing R&D projects.
- Familiarity with food production environments, quality systems, or laboratory documentation standards.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning and problem solving.
