Position Summary
The Aerospace Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting precision-machined, fabricated, and assembled aerospace components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, AS9100 requirements, and industry standards. This position utilizes precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques to verify product conformity and support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections on aerospace components and assemblies.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.
Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, and CMM reports.
Verify dimensional, visual, and mechanical requirements against customer and aerospace standards.
Complete inspection documentation, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Review certificates of conformity, material certifications, and manufacturing documentation.
Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO standards, customer requirements, and company quality procedures.
Identify quality issues and communicate findings to production, engineering, and management teams.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
Maintain inspection records and support audit activities.
Perform receiving inspection of raw materials, hardware, and outside processing services as required.
Required Qualifications
2+ years of quality inspection experience in an aerospace or precision manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong understanding of GD&T.
Experience using precision measuring instruments.
Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and aerospace manufacturing processes.
Proficient with inspection documentation and quality records.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) experience.
CMM operation or report interpretation experience.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
IPC, FAA, or related quality certifications.
Previous experience in machining, sheet metal, or aerospace assembly environments.
