Job Summary
A Quality Engineer is needed for a temp-to-hire opportunity in North Billerica, MA, supporting high-reliability electronics manufacturing with a focus on conformal coating quality. This role is ideal for a quality professional with hands-on experience in electronics production, IPC standards, coating processes, inspection methods, and continuous improvement.
The Quality Engineer Associate - Conformal Coating will provide technical oversight for coating application, inspection, validation, and defect prevention. This position supports a highly regulated manufacturing environment where precision, documentation, process control, and customer compliance are critical.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain conformal coating quality control plans to ensure compliance with IPC, NASA, MIL, customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Review and approve coating parameters for spray, dip, brush, and selective coating processes.
- Validate curing profiles, coating thickness measurement methods, and inspection criteria for conformal coating applications.
- Support DFM, PFMEA, FMEA, NPI, FAI, and FAIR documentation activities.
- Perform root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, and DMAIC to address defects and drive corrective actions.
- Support NCRs, CAPAs, SCARs, operator training, inspector training, yield improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Pay Rate: $37 to $40 per hour, depending on experience.
- Annual Salary Range: $76,960 to $83,200 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Provide quality engineering support for conformal coating processes in electronics manufacturing.
- Define and validate inspection criteria for coating workmanship, curing, thickness, and process compliance.
- Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, quality documentation, and defect prevention initiatives.
- Train production operators and inspectors on conformal coating standards and workmanship expectations.
- 3+ years of experience in quality engineering or electronics manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
- Experience with conformal coating materials, application methods, curing methods, and inspection processes.
- Knowledge of IPC-CC-830 requirements and conformal coating workmanship standards.
- Experience with UV inspection, magnification inspection, and coating thickness measurement methods.
- Ability to support FAI, FAIR, NCR, CAPA, SCAR, PFMEA, FMEA, DFM, and NPI activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, or similar root cause analysis methods.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, communication skills, and ability to work effectively with quality, engineering, and production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Background in high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
- Experience with selective coating systems, especially PVA or Nordson equipment.
- AOI experience.
- Familiarity with NASA, MIL, customer-specific, and internal quality standards.
