Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Fremont, CA, supporting advanced PCBA manufacturing and conformal coating processes. This role is ideal for a quality or process engineering professional with hands-on experience in PCBA assemblies, Design for Conformal Coating, New Product Introduction, and customer technical documentation reviews.
The Quality Engineer will serve as a key technical interface between customers, sales, engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure PCB assemblies are designed, documented, and released for successful production. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative manufacturing environment with supportive leadership, strong cross-functional teamwork, and a focus on continuous improvement, process standardization, and product reliability.

Key Responsibilities
- Support Design for Conformal Coating reviews, manufacturability assessments, technical risk analysis, and NPI activities for PCB assemblies requiring conformal coating, staking, potting, encapsulation, bonding, masking, stripping, or related polymeric processes.
- Review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, technical data packages, workmanship requirements, and documentation to ensure requirements are complete, compliant, and feasible for manufacturing.
- Evaluate customer design requirements against applicable IPC, MIL, NASA, and other industry standards, including IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, and IPC-CC-830.
- Provide manufacturability feedback, process compatibility analysis, risk mitigation recommendations, and JIRA DFC review documentation.
- Support NPI builds, first article readiness, masking methods, coating application strategies, and translation of customer requirements into manufacturing and inspection criteria.
- Participate in customer technical reviews, quality discussions, RCCA investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce customer escapes and coating-related nonconformances.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Support PCBA quality engineering, process engineering, and Design for Conformal Coating activities for new and existing electronic assemblies.
- Review customer technical data packages, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and workmanship requirements for production readiness.
- Support NPI, first article builds, RCCA investigations, manufacturability reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
- Develop and communicate coating-related risk assessments, masking strategies, process recommendations, and customer-facing technical feedback.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing, conformal coating, quality engineering, or process engineering.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, medical, commercial, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of IPC standards, MIL specifications, and polymeric applications used in conformal coating and related processes.
- Experience reviewing customer drawings, technical data packages, specifications, and work instructions.
- Knowledge of PCBA quality process development, component packaging types, PCB fabrication requirements, component spacing, and process compatibility.
- Experience using JIRA for documentation, review tracking, or engineering workflow management.
- Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Electronics, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, customer interaction, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
