Job Summary

We are seeking a Quality Control Technician Chemical for a contract opportunity in a chemical manufacturing laboratory environment in the Pittsburg/Bay Point, CA area. This role is ideal for a hands-on QC lab professional with experience testing raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods to ensure products meet strict quality, safety, and compliance standards.

This is a stable 1-year contract opportunity in a structured manufacturing setting where quality, safety, teamwork, and accuracy are valued. The Quality Control Technician will work closely with laboratory, production, R&D, and technical teams in a supportive environment with established procedures, clear expectations, and opportunities to strengthen technical laboratory skills. Candidates who enjoy detailed testing, data accuracy, equipment calibration, and problem-solving in a fast-paced chemical lab will be well aligned with this position.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform chemical and physical quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods according to established specifications.
- Record, calculate, and report test results using SAP, Microsoft Excel, and laboratory documentation systems.
- Maintain accurate quality records in compliance with SOPs, QC standard laboratory procedures, GMP expectations, and documentation standards.
- Calibrate, maintain, and verify laboratory equipment to support accurate and reliable testing.
- Investigate out-of-specification results and support root cause analysis, corrective actions, audits, inspections, and customer complaint reviews.
- Follow all safety, health, environmental, OSHA, and PPE requirements while handling adhesives, reagents, toluene, and other chemicals.

Compensation and Benefits

- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Duration: 1-year contract.
- Location: Pittsburg/Bay Point, CA.
- Day Shift: Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, $24.00 to $25.00 per hour.
- Graveyard Shift: Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, $25.00 to $26.50 per hour.
- Additional schedule listed: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Overall salary range provided: $24.00 to $27.00 per hour.
- Work environment: Chemical laboratory handling adhesives, reagents, and materials.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk frequently, and work extended shifts as needed.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Perform quality control testing in a chemical manufacturing or laboratory production environment.
- Document lab results, calculations, and quality records using SAP, Excel, and lab systems.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment while following SOPs and QC lab procedures.
- Support investigations, audits, inspections, customer complaint reviews, and root cause analysis.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality control lab environment preferred.
- Hands-on experience with chemical testing, physical testing, raw material testing, in-process testing, or finished goods testing.
- SAP or similar ERP system experience for data entry, result recording, and reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data entry, calculations, tracking, and reporting.
- Knowledge of lab documentation standards, GMP compliance, calibration procedures, and quality control records.
- Understanding of mathematical, statistical analysis, and data interpretation techniques used in product testing.
- Experience safely handling chemicals, reagents, adhesives, or similar materials in a controlled lab environment.
- Strong commitment to safety standards, OSHA compliance, PPE usage, and environmental procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
- Strong communication, organization, teamwork, reliability, attendance, and flexibility for overtime or shift changes.

Preferred Qualifications

- 2 to 3 or more years of SAP or ERP experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
- 2 to 3 or more years of Microsoft Excel experience for lab data tracking, calculations, and reporting.
- 2 or more years of laboratory equipment operation and calibration experience.
- 2 or more years of statistical analysis or data interpretation experience.
- Prior experience in adhesives, specialty chemicals, petrochemical, or related chemical manufacturing environments.
