Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician for a contract/temporary opportunity in Compton/Rancho Dominguez, CA within the consumer packaged goods manufacturing industry. This onsite role is ideal for a quality or lab professional who enjoys hands-on testing, accurate documentation, and supporting product integrity from raw materials through finished goods.
The Quality Control Technician will play an important role in helping ensure materials and products meet established specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. This position offers the chance to work closely with a collaborative Quality Department, gain exposure to standardized lab methods and SAP quality transactions, and contribute to continuous improvement activities in a structured manufacturing environment. The team values accuracy, communication, accountability, and a clean, safety-focused lab setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform standard quality control testing on incoming raw materials, in-process materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods according to established specifications.
- Calculate, document, and report test results accurately using Good Documentation Practices and approved SOPs, test methods, and work instructions.
- Enter quality data into SAP and maintain required quality records, retain samples, and documentation in accordance with retention protocols.
- Support lab equipment validation and calibration activities, including documentation and reporting of equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, including lab benches, ovens, hoods, and retain sample areas, while participating in 5S activities.
- Assist Quality Engineers with complaint investigations, sample testing, reports, training support, and assigned Quality Department projects.

- Pay rate: $23 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/temporary.
- Work location: Onsite in Compton/Rancho Dominguez, CA.
- Temporary position with the possibility of full-time employment, though conversion is not guaranteed.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Conduct quality control testing on raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products.
- Record and maintain test data, quality records, retain samples, and lab documentation.
- Support equipment calibration, validation, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Assist with complaint investigations, quality reporting, and continuous improvement activities.
- Minimum associate degree in chemistry or equivalent college credit, or at least 3 years of technical or laboratory experience.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant quality, laboratory, or manufacturing experience preferred for this role level.
- Experience with materials testing such as viscosity testing, melting point testing, and general lab testing.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, instruments, testing procedures, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Proficiency with SAP for Quality Lab transactions.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow Good Documentation Practices.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented lab and manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental rules, procedures, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Quality Control experience in a manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, chemical, or materials testing environment.
- Familiarity with document management systems, retain sample protocols, 5S practices, and quality lab meeting routines.
- Experience supporting Quality Engineers with complaint investigations, testing, and reporting.
