We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team and lead all aspects of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance in a dynamic meat and protein production environment, including fully cooked meat products.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily sanitation and food safety programs, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Drive product quality improvements and support continuous process enhancements during production.
Ensure strict compliance and monitoring for fully cooked meat products, including temperature controls, pathogen testing, and validation procedures.
Coordinate with third-party laboratories and manage sample submissions for testing.
Identify and resolve product quality and safety issues through effective corrective actions.
Prepare for and lead SQF and other food safety-related audits; conduct supplier audits as needed.
Ensure compliance with state and federal agencies, Halal and Organic certifiers, customers, and brokers.
Manage USDA label approvals and maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
Serve as the primary liaison to FSIS, FDA, and other regulatory bodies.
Maintain prerequisite programs including Supplier Approval, Customer Complaints, HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, Allergen Program, and continuous training.
Perform monitoring, verification, and validation activities related to SQF and HACCP programs.
Develop and maintain SOPs for all processes impacting food safety and quality.
Oversee product development documentation for commercialization, including formulations, labels, and specifications.
Ensure compliance with wastewater management, hazardous waste disposal, and equipment calibration programs.
Provide food safety and quality training to employees and foster a strong food safety culture.
Collaborate with other departments on budgets, capital projects, and maintenance needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field.
5–10 years of progressive experience in Quality Control or Food Safety within a food manufacturing environment.
HACCP-trained and certified Practitioner required.
Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, USDA, and FDA regulatory requirements.
Experience with fully cooked meat products and associated food safety protocols.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage a small team.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in problem-solving.
Flexible to work overtime or off-shifts when required.
