A local client has a need to hire a Purchasing Coordinator / Vendor Relations Specialist to join their East Bay location. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is detailed, customer focused and looking for an immediate opportunity. As a Purchasing Coordinator / Vendor Relations Specialist you will be responsible for purchasing operations and manage all vendor-related activities. This role is responsible for sourcing high-quality materials and services, negotiating contracts, optimizing costs, and ensuring timely delivery to support our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining a smooth flow of materials and contributing to the company’s overall operational success.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with production requirements
Source, screen, and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery timelines
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure cost-effective procurement
Maintain strong vendor relationships and monitor ongoing supplier performance
Analyze inventory levels and forecast material needs to support operational planning
Process purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing records in QuickBooks and supply systems
Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications
Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and vendor consolidation
Resolve supplier issues, delays, and discrepancies efficiently
Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry standards


Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational abilities
Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to make strategic decisions
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities

Preferred Experience
Background in metal processing, machining, or industrial manufacturing
Familiarity with ISO or other quality management systems
Previous purchasing experience (preferred but not required)
Experience with ERP systems; QuickBooks or similar software is a plus
