Job Summary
Purchasing Clerk
Key Responsibilities
Create, process, and track purchase orders in the ERP or purchasing system
Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, delivery schedules, and order status
Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on late or incomplete deliveries
Maintain accurate purchasing records, files, and supplier documentation
Verify order confirmations, packing slips, and invoices for accuracy
Assist with inventory control and coordination with production and warehouse teams
Support sourcing activities, including requesting quotes and comparing pricing
Resolve discrepancies related to orders, shipments, or invoices
Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures
Provide general administrative support to the purchasing department
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
1–3 years of purchasing, clerical, or manufacturing support experience preferred
Basic understanding of manufacturing materials and supply chain processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
Manufacturing or office setting
Frequent interaction with vendors, production, and warehouse personnel
