Property Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Property Accountant to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties. The ideal candidate has strong experience in real estate accounting, understands property-level financials, and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned property portfolio
Perform general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes
Maintain accurate records of revenues, expenses, and accruals for each property
Review and track budgets, variances, and operating expenses
Reconcile bank accounts and tenant ledgers
Assist with CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and year-end adjustments
Coordinate with property managers regarding financial performance and reporting
Support annual audits and tax preparation processes
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies

Qualifications
3+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on property or real estate accounting
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, or similar property management/accounting systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience with commercial, residential, or mixed-use property portfolios
CPA or CPA-track is a plus
