A growing Property Management company in Memphis, TN is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This role is responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in property management accounting, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for assigned properties
• Complete bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Post journal entries and manage month-end close processes
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
• Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting
• Partner with property managers to review financial performance
• Support year-end close and audit preparation
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of accounting experience (property management or real estate preferred)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with property management/accounting software (Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, or similar)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
