We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Property Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties. The ideal candidate has experience in real estate or property management accounting and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned property portfolio
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts
Record accruals, journal entries, and adjusting entries
Review and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Prepare and analyze variance reports comparing budget to actual results
Assist with annual budgets and reforecasts
Reconcile CAM charges and tenant billings
Support year-end audits and tax preparation
Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
Collaborate with Property Managers to review financial performance and resolve discrepancies
Qualifications
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate
Strong understanding of GAAP
Experience with property management/accounting software (Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, or similar preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and communication abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
