Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in an analytical or technical role using databases and spreadsheets
Experience collecting, analyzing, and documenting data to draw conclusions
Ability to manage multiple programs, projects, and assignments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience analyzing, coding, testing, and documenting moderately complex applications
Working knowledge of at least two programming languages, reporting tools, and database structures
Familiarity with system development, software/hardware tools, and project methodologies
Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
The Agency Coordinator Senior Specialist (ACSS) supports construction projects by securing excavation, encroachment, and traffic control permits for work in public and Caltrans rights of way. Key duties include:
Reviewing project plans and construction drawings to identify required permits
Coordinating internal resources to obtain permits
Working with government agencies to secure permit approvals and favorable conditions
Preparing, submitting, tracking, and managing permit applications
Serving as the main contact for permit-related questions
Providing approved permits to project and construction teams before work begins. Tracking permit status and reporting updates to stakeholders
Resolving permit issues and escalating when needed
Mentoring junior permit specialists
Supporting new business processes and following company standards
Required Skills
3+ years of experience in permitting, construction, engineering, utility design, or project support
Experience obtaining excavation, encroachment, and traffic control permits
Strong ability to work with government agencies
Experience working within construction schedules
Strong reporting and coordination skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
