We are seeking a detail-oriented Project and Purchasing Accounting professional for a contract opportunity in Rio Rancho, NM. This role supports project accounting, procurement, purchasing documentation, accounts payable coordination, and financial recordkeeping for a municipal operations environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Create and submit purchase requisitions, verify account coding, confirm budget availability, and ensure required documentation is complete.
- Track requisitions through approvals, purchase order issuance, receiving, invoice review, and payment processes.
- Reconcile goods and services against purchase orders and vendor invoices while researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate procurement, accounting, contract, budget, and financial records in compliance with applicable requirements.
- Prepare routine and ad hoc purchasing, expenditure, budget, and financial reports for project and client stakeholders.
- Support budget tracking, expenditure forecasting, audits, compliance reviews, records requests, and year-end financial activities.
Compensation
- Pay: $24 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.
- Job type: Contract/Temporary.
- Location: Rio Rancho, NM.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, purchasing, accounts payable, project controls, or related administrative support functions.
- Experience working with financial management systems, ERP software, or related accounting applications.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial recordkeeping, procurement processes, purchase orders, invoices, and account coding.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related business applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in bookkeeping, accounting, procurement, business administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting public-sector procurement, contract administration, or municipal financial operations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
- Experience using CentralSquare NaviLine or a similar municipal ERP system.
- Experience supporting budget preparation, expenditure control, forecasting, audits, compliance reviews, and records management.
- Familiarity with government purchasing regulations, procurement procedures, and contract documentation requirements.
