Construction Project Accountant (Prevailing Wage) – Temp-to-Hire

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Compensation: $75,000 – $80,000 (DOE)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

We are seeking a Construction Project Accountant to join our growing team. This role is a replacement for a current temporary position with the opportunity to transition into a full-time, long-term role. The ideal candidate brings experience in prevailing wage environments, certified payroll, and construction accounting, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven setting.

Training will be provided on Schedule of Values (SOV) billing, but a solid accounting foundation—especially within construction—is essential.

What You’ll Do
Manage accounting activities for construction projects, including job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting
Prepare and process project billings, including SOV-based invoicing
Review and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor payments, and change orders
Track project costs, monitor budgets, and identify variances, overruns, and cost-saving opportunities
Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and financial analyses to support project and executive decision-making
Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll, labor compliance, and lien releases
Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and revenue recognition
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
Support audits by providing documentation, reconciliations, and cost analysis
Maintain and improve accounting processes, controls, and best practices
What We’re Looking For
Accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments
Hands-on experience with:
Prevailing wages & certified payroll
Labor compliance & lien releases (preferred)
Strong proficiency in:
Microsoft Excel (assessment required upon hire)
Accounting/project management software such as Sage, LCPTracker, Procore, or similar
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail and accuracy
