We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support our construction projects by managing financials, budgets, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure projects are financially successful.
Key Responsibilities
Manage accounting for construction projects, including job cost tracking and reporting
Prepare project budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis
Review and process invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments
Monitor project costs and ensure alignment with budgets
Assist project managers with financial decision-making and cost control
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual project financial reports
Reconcile project accounts and resolve discrepancies
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Support audits and internal financial reviews as needed
Collaborate with accounting, operations, and project management teams
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in construction accounting or project accounting
Knowledge of construction job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting
Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Procore, Viewpoint, QuickBooks, or similar)
Strong Excel skills and analytical ability
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or working toward CPA designation
Experience with commercial or residential construction projects
Understanding of billing, retainage, and subcontractor agreements
