Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to support our finance, project management, and operations teams. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial tracking for active projects, including budgeting, cost management, billing, reporting, and compliance with internal accounting standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, skilled with accounting systems, and comfortable collaborating across departments to maintain accurate project financials.

Key Responsibilities
• Monitor, track, and maintain financial records for multiple projects simultaneously
• Prepare and review project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
• Reconcile actuals against budgets and analyze variances with project managers
• Process project-related invoices, purchase orders, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements
• Prepare and issue timely and accurate billing based on contract terms, progress milestones, and deliverables
• Maintain detailed documentation supporting project billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocations
• Assist in month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and reporting packages
• Review labor hours, subcontractor invoices, materials costs, and change orders for accuracy
• Support audits by providing clear documentation and financial backup
• Collaborate with operations, finance, and leadership teams to resolve discrepancies and improve financial visibility
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting guidelines, and organizational policies
• Contribute to process improvements, documentation updates, and workflow optimization

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in project-based environments
• Strong proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
• Experience with QuickBooks, Salesforce, or similar project accounting platforms
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and basic formulas
• High attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to interpret contracts, billing structures, and project documentation
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
• Strong understanding of accruals, cost tracking, revenue recognition basics, and
general accounting principles

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in construction, engineering, professional services, architecture, manufacturing, or other project-based industries
• Familiarity with tools such as NetSuite, Deltek, Sage Intacct, Procore, or Bill.com
• Previous experience supporting project managers with budgeting or financial planning
• Knowledge of WIP reports, job costing, and percent-complete accounting methods

Work Environment
