We empower adults and their caregivers to effectively navigate their health and life options. Through a comprehensive network of services, we educate, prepare, support, and advocate for older adults, their families, and caregivers across Santa Clara County.
Program Overview
Our nutrition-focused programs include, a federally funded, evidence-based initiative. That aims to improve nutrition and physical activity behaviors among low-income seniors through engaging classes and outreach conducted at senior centers, housing complexes, and other accessible community locations.
Position Summary
The Coordinator will serve as a key driver of outreach, education, and engagement, promoting and coordinating events and partnerships throughout Santa Clara County. This role blends program planning, community relationship-building, curriculum delivery, and administrative oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Outreach
• Act as a brand ambassador for various Nutrition programs and the organization
• Plan and deliver nutrition education classes and outreach events
• Conduct community surveys, evaluations, and presentations
• Foster partnerships and vet outreach opportunities
• Attend offsite events to promote services
Program Coordination
• Plan, schedule, and manage classes across multiple sites
• Track and report program data, including outreach and impact metrics
• Collaborate with internal teams and partner agencies to meet program goals
• Lead outreach projects and coordinate logistics for community engagement
Client Services & Support
• Manage intake for new Meals on Wheels clients and maintain accurate records
• Respond to phone and email inquiries related to Nutrition programs
• Collaborate with Nutrition program team to streamline processes
Administrative Duties
• Maintain detailed program documentation and monthly reporting
• Track inventory and purchase necessary materials
• Support the Director on initiatives and program development
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Gerontology, or 4 years of relevant experience
• 2+ years in community engagement/outreach
• 1+ year of project management experience
• Experience delivering nutrition education curriculum
• Understanding of food insecurity and health disparities
• Sensitivity to cultural diversity and experience working with diverse groups
Skills & Competencies
• Bilingual in Vietnamese/English, or Chinese/English highly preferred
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)
• Proficient in MS Office and basic office procedures
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines independently
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Valid CA Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
Work Environment & Expectations
• Full-time, 40 hours/week
• Regular business hours with flexibility for community events
• Some travel within Santa Clara County required
