Job Summary

A growing biomanufacturing environment in Ames, IA is seeking a Biomanufacturing Production Technician to support warehouse, laboratory, and production activities in a USDA-licensed facility. This contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented production professional who enjoys hands-on work, structured processes, and contributing to the manufacturing of veterinary biological and RNA particle vaccine products.

The Production Technician will work in a quality-focused, team-oriented setting with supportive supervision, clear procedures, and opportunities to build experience in regulated biomanufacturing. This role offers variety, including material handling, inventory support, aseptic lab procedures, production documentation, and direct support of vaccine production processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform warehouse and material handling tasks, including unloading trucks, moving materials, picking and putting away products, staging supplies, and completing cycle counts.
- Support production operations by delivering materials to work areas, maintaining in-process inventory, and preparing materials for shipping or production use.
- Assist with laboratory production processes such as blending, filling, formulation, media preparation, and restocking lab supplies.
- Perform aseptic techniques, including pipetting, pouring media, maintaining sterile conditions, and following required PPE and safety protocols.
- Support cell culture and RNA vaccine production activities, including maintaining Vero cell lines and assisting with electroporation and harvest processes.
- Maintain accurate production records, training logs, and documentation in compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $19 to $20 per hour, with the assignment pay rate listed at $20 per hour.
- Job type: Contract/Temporary.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with Friday mornings as needed to reach 40 hours per week.
- Location: Ames, IA.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support warehouse, inventory, and material handling activities for production operations.
- Assist with aseptic laboratory production, formulation, filling, and media preparation.
- Maintain regulated production documentation and follow quality, safety, and PPE requirements.
- Support RNA particle vaccine and veterinary biological manufacturing processes.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required.
- Ability to work safely with materials and equipment, including pallet jacks and dry ice.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with strong attention to detail.
- Basic mathematical skills required.
- Ability to wear required PPE and work in aseptic environments.
- Completion of a Physical Abilities Test required.
- Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and reliability.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative production team.
- Strong work ethic and continuous improvement mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with laboratory, manufacturing, biomanufacturing, or regulated production procedures.
- Experience with aseptic technique, pipetting, media preparation, cell culture, blending, filling, or formulation.
- Experience working in a USDA-licensed, GMP, quality-regulated, or biologics manufacturing environment.
